Divorce Records Indiana Free List Online

By Ben Kingsley

A divorce record is the only legal document that supports the validity of an ended marriage. In other states, divorce records can be found at their Vital Statistics Office together with other public records. However, in the case of Indiana Divorce Records, they are found at the specific county Clerk of Courts where the divorce was finalized.

Divorce documents are part of the public document and any person has the right to obtain copies of them. However, the extent of how much information you will be provided with will depend on who you are. If you are one of the spouses, their attorney, or someone that has the consent of the court, then you can access the complete document and view including the confidential pieces of information. If you are an outside party, then you will be given a simple document that shows that a divorce has occurred and that it has been made final by the court.

A divorce record that is finalized in one state is also recognized in other states. A person can only file for a divorce in a certain state after he or she has resided there for at least a year. If you have been married in the past and have found a new love who you wish to marry, it is important that you present the validated divorce record so you can apply for a marriage license. You can also use the records to claim assets and properties from your previous marriage.

If you want to request for the files but do not have any knowledge of which specific county they are stored, you can submit your request form at the Indiana Department of Health. The department can find the county - where the files are stored - for you. You can get a request form at the Department of Health, or, if you know the specific county Clerk of Court, you can also get one from there. You may also secure the form online by downloading it from the official website of the department or of the county Clerk of Court. Supply the required fields of the form and send it personally or through traditional mail. There are certain fees rendered for each type of request.

Divorce documents are obtainable from private websites as well. Such websites are allowed by the court to legally disseminate public records. There are various websites to choose from and most of them are authentic. But it is unfortunate that fake sites exist too. Investigate the sites first before you choose one to help you with your search.

Since Divorce Records Are Public records, you can easily find them. There are service providers that provide the records for free while some render certain fees. Both types are capable of providing the basic pieces of information of the records such as the full names of the husband and the wife, their respective birthdays, date and venue of divorce, etc. You can start a search by simply providing a full name and you get results in a matter of seconds.
