You do not have to worry about legality issues because it is legal to retrieve files that are considered as public records. Divorce records are the only records that are acknowledged by the court as proof that a marriage is officially over. You may also opt to mail your request if you cannot hand it personally to the Clerk of Court. However, you will have to wait about two to three weeks to get the files. You will be charged a certain amount for retrieving the files and the amount varies from county to county.

There are privately-owned sites that are involved in maintaining and accepting requests for divorce documents. There quite a number of such sites but there are only a few that are actually capable of giving genuine pieces of information. It is important that you check the credibility of a certain site prior to using the information that they supply.

Some of the service providers render fees for their service but there are also those that will provide you Free Divorce Records. You will be given enough information that will help you verify if a divorce is official or not. If you do not know where to start your search, there are service providers that will allow you to do a nationwide search.
